VW Golf/Rabbit MK I

Hi!

I've just started a new VW build, this time a Golf Mk I. Here's how I'll try to make it look like when done:



The decals are homemade and the checkered roof will be done using a homemade decal as well. It'll have GTI sport seats and maybe some tuning parts on the engine...???

Just like the first picture shows, grey (actually flat grey primer) but the roof will be black and white ("checkerd flag-type") and the hood will most likely be black, maybe with a white skull and text : "Death proof"

OK, so I've made som tiny progress on this one.

I thinned the front break-discs



I found out I'll have to modify one of the Engine-mounts


I took some material away from the trailing arms up front to get the Wheels further in


And, I started making my own 2,5" exhaust system


Which led to the fact I had to widen the opening in the rear splash pan to allow Twin pipes...

good work's!!!

More work...

I had to cut some material away from the tranny to make space for the front Wheels when turning.


As I've moved the inner fenders forward a bit, there would be a "gap" against the interior. I made a small shelf from plastc card:


One of the enginemounts wasn't up to my satisfaction so I redid it :

Yeah, I know. My "slow work" is because of the fact that I have my regular work far from home and only spend about 2-3 Days a week at home, and when at home I do have quite a lot of things to do with the house, garden, swimming-pool, 2 cars and a motorbike! Not to mention cooking for me and my wife while she's at work. Thank god we have someone doing the house-cleaning for us...

But, hopefully I'll do some more modeling tonight when my wife's asleep. And I also have 2 more Days off from work so.... 

However, next tuesday we're of for 3 weeks of holiday in California, so this build will be put on hold for a while...

Thanks! Yeah it's a real Dream coming thru. Ever since I was in my early teens I've been dreaming about going to CA.

Anyway, tonight I did some more work to the Rabbit. I put some good old Humbrol #56 on certain Engine-parts:



I also turned the battery 90 degrees wich actually look better IMHO. The holes in the fenders will be covered using very thin plastic card or maybe paper???

Today I resprayed the Engine semiflat black:



I also started modifying the lower front pan. First a Picture of how it's supposed to look:



Here's how it looks right now, the black spots are to be drilled with a 0.6 mm drill:

I reduced the length of the housing for the Electric fan to make more room in the Engine-bay:



But even so, it'll be a snug fit with all the engineparts in Place:

Made some progress on the interior today. Here's a mockup:



....and here's a closeup on the speakers, the red'n blue stripes simulates neaonlightbars that I will make from strechted sprue :

jolie petite modification ,ça avance doucement mais surement ,me demande si je ne collerais pas la mienne au sol quand je la monterais!!


pretty small change, it slowly but surely advance, asking me if I do not mine would stick to the ground when I be riding!
