1938 VW Type 38 Prototype

This is my latest build. Approx 90-95 cars of the VW type 38/Porsche 60 where built during 1938-39 and the WW2 broke out and production of civilian cars stopped. I used a Gunze 1956 VW as a base for this build, backdating it to 1938 configurations. The main modifications are as follows:

Scratchbuilt dashboard

Changed steering-wheel

No cavities behind the door handles

Scratchbuilt inside doorpanels

Changed wheels/hubcaps (no VW-inscriptions)

Well, I know the bumpers aren't 100% correct, but they DO look VERY similar to the bumpers on the prototype cars, at least according to all pictures I've found on the internet!!! Take a look at this historic picture, It's the car I've tried to rensemble:



However, on the Military cars produced during the war AND the first civilian cars built AFTER WW2 the bumpers were totally different looking.

Even if this kit isn't technically really similar to the real one, it's a great model ! Congratulations !
